Our Foster Dogs

The dogs listed here are Harnessed to Hope foster dogs. We do not have a shelter or kennel facility -all of our foster dogs live in the private homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting any of these dogs please see our Adoption Process page.
Please note: we work in eastern PA, southern NJ, and parts of MD and DE depending on distance. We cannot adopt to people outside of that area.

Sheeba - Siberian HuskyClick to enlarge
Age: 8 years old
Sex: female
Eye color: one blue, one brown
Good with other dogs: yes
Good with cats: NO
Good with kids: yes
Location: Annapolis, MD
Sheeba is like no other husky. She is very laid back. She is such a sweetheart, so calm and low key. She seems to prefer other Huskies, she doesn’t have too much to do with the dog she lives with, who is very hyper. I would not suggest a house where there are any cats or small dogs or animals. Sheeba very rarely makes a noise. She will, on occasion, make a short yelp to tell you something is wrong, i.e. needs to go outside. She does need knee surgery and as a result of her very serious surgery sneezes quite a bit and needs to have her nose cleaned every few hours.
I always hear how pretty a husky she is and what a nice disposition she has when she is out in public. She doesn’t jump on furniture or on people. She loves the dog park and going for rides, she isn’t afraid of storms or loud noises. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines and Frontline.

If you would like more information on Sheeba, please email her foster home.

Zoey - Siberian Husky click to view
Age: 4 years old
Sex: female
Eye color: brown, her left eye contains a bit of blue
Good with other dogs: yes
Good with cats: no
Good with kids: skittish around people, some she will go right up to, and others she will quickly retreat if they make a move towards her. This includes kids and adults.

We are working with her on food guarding, and the way she asks for attention – right now , if she wants your attention, she tends to snap at the air, which isn’t the best habit. I do not think she will do well with cats as she has been somewhat too aggressive towards my cat. We're just keeping the two separated.

She was not in a crate before and I've only had her in a crate for a few minutes so far, we are gradually working on increasing the time. She has not disturbed anything in the house when she is home alone. She prefers a nice cozy couch to curl up on, or to roll on her back for belly rubs. She also likes to sleep on my bed at night and she likes to cuddle, certainly cheaper than an electric blanket. In fact, I think the bed is now her daytime resting spot. I've snuck in only to see her descending from the stairs.

Her energy level I would describe as moderate to high. She certainly loves to go for walks and now seems to like to run more than our first few outings.

Overall, Zoey is a sweetheart, and she certainly has made progress in her 17 days with me. I think she will make an ideal housemate!

Kane - Siberian Huskyclick to view
Age: 9 months old
Sex: male
Eye color: blue
Good with other dogs: yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: he is friendly and sweet, but we are working on his playful mouthing and jumping up.

Kane is a nine month old white male with blue eyes. He will be neutered on February 23rd. I've only had Kane for 4 days now but I can tell that he's quite a character. He gets along great with Zoey and all other dogs we've met so far. He's a bit undisciplined as he mouths playfully and jumps up on you. He is a natural born surfer ... counter surfer, of course. I'm trying not to reward that behavior by keeping a clean counter. I have not tested him with the cat. He is an extremely high energy level dog and he loves to run and walk. Like Zoey, he starts dancing when the leashes come out. I think he could run a half marathon and be ready for more.

He is spending his days in the crate but I've left him out other than that. No negative consequences other than the few things scattered from the counter. He likes to chew and seems content with a rawhide.
For more information on Kane, email his foster home.
