Meet Lily!

Lily is a sweet 10 year old girl who made her way into our rescue and is now ready for adoption!!

Lily has a very sweet temperament. She has had a lot of changes in her life recently but she is still happy to see you and enjoys being around people. Lily is a calm Siberian Husky who is looking for home to retire to! She is a relatively low-energy dog who is house-trained and likes to sleep on a soft dog bed. She has difficulty jumping in and out of cars and needs a friendly lift! Because of that, she also does not jump up on furniture! Lily tends to lay down for car rides, and is a good traveler.

Lily has done well around adult dogs in her foster home. Lily is very treat motivated and will take treats gently from your hand. She has a smaller frame but is a healthy 49 pounds right now. She is being fostered in the Lehigh Valley, PA and would LOVE to meet you!

Lily is up to date on shots, spayed, and will be microchipped. She is heart worm negative and was recently treated for Lyme. She has some arthritis in her back legs with is being treated with a generic anti-inflammatory and with light daily exercise.

If you are interested in Lily, please email her foster home: Lindsay.fleishman@gmail.com or fill out an application for her @ nbrescue.com!

Follow us on Facebook for more updates and pictures of Lily and our other foster dogs!

Welcome New Fosters!

We have had a very busy week/weekend in the rescue with the arrival of 4 new foster dogs who will be looking for their forever homes!

Yogi: Yogi (formerly Magoo) came from a Harrisburg shelter after he was found wandering the streets. He's a young handsome guy who knows his commands. He does have an old paw/foot injury which has healed but left him with a bit of a twist in his foot. The vet says that he is able to walk/run up to 10 miles a day on his healed paw. Available for adoption!!

SampsonThis is new foster Sampson in the recovery room. Sampson had his incision for a dew claw removal open. Thanks to Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital for getting him in at the last minute to fix him up. He'll be on light duty for a few days but then he'll be ready to go. They bandaged the other incision as well.

Sampson comes to us from the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter near Clarks Summit, Pa. Where he
came to them as a stray. We thank them for trusting HTHNBR to take care of this sweet boy. He gets along well with my pack of 3 + foster Hawkeye. He is very interested in the local bunny population so I doubt he will do well in a house with small animals. He is yet to be kid tested but I'll bet, given the amount of kisses he has bestowed upon me, that he'll be fine with anyone who will let him lick their face! Available for adoption!!

Kira: Kira is an energetic 4 year old Siberian Husky who ended up in a shelter and with the help of some Good Samaritans she was able to get the help she needed! She was badly matted and needed to be shaved unfortunately. This friendly gal is good with other dogs but would not do well around small animals including cats! Kira can be a bit bossy, but responds well to corrections. She is house and crate trained. She is learning to walk on a leash and will be attending training starting 7/2/2016 at Passion for Paws Training in Northampton, PA. Kira is spayed and UTD on shots. Available for adoption!!

Loki: Loki turned 1 year old on 6/29/2016. He is an energetic 25-30lb Alaskan Klee Kai x American Eskimo mix. Adoption Pending!!

Foster Dog: Sage

Sage will be 2 years old in July. She's a young energetic Husky/Keeshond Mix who was in the rescue as a puppy and has returned to the rescue. She loves giving kisses, cuddling, walking/running, chasing birds, squirrels and other small animals, and playing with other dogs. She's well-behaved and crate trained. She would enjoy an active home that can take her on adventures walking, hiking, or running. She is a petite little girl weighing 33lbs with a big personality! She's friendly with dogs and kids, but we do not recommend a home with small animals like cats, birds, or hamsters.

Sage is fostered in the Lehigh Valley, PA. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Sage is ready for her forever home!

UPDATE  5/13/2016: Sage has a pending adoption!

Ulysses Update

Have you always wanted a Husky but heard how much work they can be?
Meet Ulysses, he's not your typical husky!
This 5 year young pup loves sleeping all day long, curled up by your feet!
That's not to say he won't go for a nice walk or two though, because he loves walks too.
Ulysses has a condition called EPI, which means his body has trouble absorbing nutrients.
But don't worry, we got him healthy and back up to normal weight - he will just need an enzyme powder sprinkled on his meals before eating - it's that easy smile emoticon
He has some separation anxiety as well, but continues to show improvement each and every day - with a little more training and patience, we think that will go away too.
He does well with other dogs, but doesn't like to play TOO much.
He loves car rides, belly rubs, kisses, 'giving paw', sleeping, and just being a great dog.
A good household for Ulysses would be one where someone is home most of the time, and can give him plenty of rubs and kisses.
Being an 'older' dog with health issues can make it tough for such a great dog like Ulysses to get adopted, but we know there's someone out there that will give this great dog the perfect life he deserves.

Akira - Diagnosis

AKIRA has a great prognosis! She will be fitted soon for a prosthetic legShe's happily scooting along but we're seeking to upgrade her quality of life. We are fundraising to cover her prosthetic leg, made by the great Dr.Derek at Animal Ortho Care. A prosthetic leg is a great alternative to amputation. This will also help prolong Akira's life! Thank you for your support!
Here is a video of her as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbZTFdVZpp8
